July was a busy but fun month. It started with Jen and her children coming a week before our reunion. Dad was happy to have Thomas go with him to help out with the BB gun range for cub scout day camp here. He was a life saver for them as he worked hard doing what they asked him to do. We went to the waterfront park and meet Brandon, Heather, Isaac and Lydia. They all had fun out on the dock looking at starfish and jelly fish. It didn't take Thomas and Sammy very long before they were wet. Sammy tried coaxing Joshie to join them. When Jen told Joshie no, his reply was, "just one foot?" We had dinner and enjoyed visiting and watching the kids play. On Wed. night we went to Heather's parents house for dinner and fireworks. Brandon also helped the kids do a performance for us and took the kids for a ride in the trailer behind the quads. Thomas and Spring spent the night and the next morning we meet them with the other kids except for Gideon as Jen and I went to the airport to get Karen and Alanna. Heather took all the kids except Sammy and Mary to ride the Kingston ferry where they got to drive the ferry (thanks to her brother) while Brandon took Sammy and Mary to the bounce house. The kids were all excited when they got home. Thanks to Brandon and Heather for showing them such a fun time.
Then came time to buy the food for the reunion. Karen and I took Mary and Spring with us to Cash & Carry while Jen and Alanna took the boys to Wal-mart. Joel and Eric arrived on Sunday and we had everyone at church with us except Kim and Matt who arrived later. Scott, Kevin, Katy and Adell arrived in time for dinner and a birthday party for Gary and Spring. Spring wanted money to buy a camera. She had fun unwrapping several boxes wrapped inside each other to get the gold dollar coins that we gave it. It was fun seeing her excitement. We all enjoyed dinner and cake together as we visited. Kim, Mat, Kevin and Katy spent the night with Brandon and Heather. Monday morning we left for the beach and was welcomed with a bright sunny day. We were so fortunate to have such nice weather while at the beach. It was fun having everyone together enjoying themselves. The meals everyone planned were yummy and lots of it. We enjoyed spending time at the beach, visiting, playing games, looking for sand dollars, having a cupcake war, and having a scavenger hunt. It was hard to part ways with Karen, Scott, Kevin, Katy and Adell Thur. morning as we prepared to return home. A very important part of the month was Spring's baptism. It was such a blessing to have the whole family there for her special day. She looked so beautiful and happy. We are so proud of her decision to be baptised. She has been taught well by her parents. Satuday night we were going to meet Brandon and Heather at the waterfront park for dinner but the park was closed for some other activity so we went to the "let's build a playground" park and had dinner and the kids played. Sunday was a busy day as Jen and Kim prepared to go home bright and early Monday morning. Monday evening was sure quiet here and a time to reflect on how much we love each of our children and their families. We have said many times that we have been blessed with wonderful children who have also chosen special people as their spouses. Of course our grandchildren are THE BEST! Let's all enjoy the memories we have until our next reunion. I know that as families grow it will be harder and harder for us all to be together, so let's take advantage of it while we can. Friends come and go but families are always there.
