Steam Engine Train

Saturday we took Isaac to ride the steam train in Chehalis. He was so excited when he saw how big the engine was. Since we got there about 1 1/2 hours early we started to walk around and let him look at the trains, the engineer saw Isaac and asked him if he wanted to see the fire that makes it go. At first he didn't want to but once I got up in the engine he was willing to let Grandpa lift him up to me. He loved sitting where the engineer sets and looking out the window. He would say, "hot" to show us where the fire was. The engineer let him pull the cord to ring the bell and he thought that was pretty awesome. When we actually boarded the train he was pretty excited. It was fun watching the engine get the car and hook it up to the train. As we started Isaac said, "go fast." To him we were going fast and he loved watching the tracks behind us. We saw cows, horses and lots of trees and farms along the way. When it was time to go back the engine had to hook up to the other end of the train. They couldn't turn the whole train around. Isaac was spellbound as he and Grandpa watched the engine back up and hook onto the car. He could see the engineer and waved to him and was excited as he waved back. About the last 10 minutes he was getting tired and the loud whistle and bells hurt his ears. He laid on my lap and covered his ears and tried to fall asleep. (They found out on Sunday that he had an ear infection. No wonder the noise hurt his ears.) The weather was beautiful and it was a fun way to spend time with him.
