We took a day trip from Port Townsend to Friday Harbor (part of the San Juan Islands) yesterday. It was the first really nice day we have had this year. There was a bright blue sky and the temperature was perfect. We were on the boat for about an hour before we were able to see the whales. We spent over an hour watching the whales and taking pictures. It is amazing to see them out in there natural habitat. The females rule the pods and makes all the decisions. The male whales stay close to their mothers for life. We then continued up to Friday Harbor and walked around the town a little and had lunch there. On the way back we saw an eagles nest that is built on the ground. It is one of only two that they know of that's built on the ground. The eagles just keep adding to their nest year after year. We also saw whale rock which is where the sea lions rest. It was just one of those perfect relaxing days that was spent out on a boat. The water was so smooth and it sparkled with the sun shinning on it.

That sounds so awesome! I love the pictures too. I am glad that the two of you were able to go on this trip. What a fun day for you guys!!
I'm so glad the weather was perfect for this kind of day. The pictures are absolutely beautiful. How incredible to see all the whales up close. Spring would love something like this. How neat also that there is another Spring street and why didn't you get that boat named after me! :) That is really amazing about the Eagle's nest.
Thanks for sharing the pictures with us. THey are amazing.
It sounds like you had a really fun time. That would be something Matt and I would probably like to do sometime when we come to visit.
